2nd Generation of Dymock Family in Jamberoo District

John Waugh Jnr. was born in Jamberoo, Kiama on 14th May 1864, and was the eldest of the eight children as the eldest daughter died at birth in 1862. John Waugh Jnr.’s other siblings were Robert Menzies (died at birth 15th August 1866), Margaret Stewart (1869 – 1944), Phillis Helen (1871 – 1950), Elizabeth Grace (1873 -1950), William David Lindsay (1875 – 1951) and Charles McLean (1879 – 1965).

In his early years of manhood, he moved to the Lismore district of N.S.W. and began work for a stock and agency company and became very prominent in the district as a foundation member of the Lismore Club and the local horse racing club. [A stock and agency company bought and sold stock for farmers, supplied merchandise for the farm, arranged finance and bought and sold properties.]

He married Edith Wheeler Corrie on 21st November 1889 at “Strathdon”, Colo Vale, Mittagong, N.S.W. Edith had a brother, Charles Stanley Corrie, who travelled to New Zealand and had mental problems that saw him commit suicide on 14th December 1901.

In about 1912, John Waugh Jnr. and Edith moved to Sydney and he joined the company of William Inglis and Sons and was head auctioneer for that company for about 20 years until his retirement in 1932. For health reasons, he moved to live with two of his daughters at Jerilderie, N.S.W. in 1942.
